From a high on fame Bollywood actress to a
shattered, insecure young girl, lately launched trailer of the Hindi
film 'Heroine' gives a glimpse of an actress' reel and real life.
Director Madhur Bhandarkar's new film shows the rise and fall of a
Bollywood actress Mahi. Kareena Kapoor and Arjun Rampal play the lead
roles in the film.
The film undoubtedly looks glamorous and the trailer has enough
shocking moments as well. However, doesn't it remind you of some popular
Bollywood films? Bhandarkar's 'Fashion' which was released in 2008,
focused on the dark side of fashion world. Priyanka Chopra played a
super model Meghna Mathur in the film. She falls prey to the momentary
pleasures of being a celebrity and loses it all.
Vidya Balan played an item girl turned actress 'Silk' in 'The
Dirty Picture'. After being at the pinnacle of success, Silk fails to
deal with her failures and commits suicide. Like Vidya 'Boombat' Balan,
Kareena also plays a bold character in the film. And when we say bold,
it doesn’t only mean statements. Going by the promos, 'Heroine' seems
like Kareena's boldest film so far. She is also seen pointing a gun at
herself in the promo. Wait till September 21 to find out whether Mahi
learns to fight back like Meghna or decides to die as a star like Silk.
During a recent interview, Kareena Kapoor said that 'Heroine' has
nothing similar to 'The Dirty Picture' and it is 'unfair' to compare the
two.
Pointing out the difference between the two films, Bhandarkar
said, "I liked 'The Dirty Picture'. The film was about the rise of an
item girl in the 1980s. Our film is more modern in its approach. The two
films are very different and you cannot compare them. There have been
so many films based on underworld. Also so many cop films have come like
'Singham' and 'Dabangg', but no one compares them. Then why are people
comparing these two films."
